The Wild Hunt

I was going to do a meditation post, but I feel that the spirits want me to share something else tonight, so I’m going with it.

Today is October 1st, the start of the first full month of Autumn. This is a time of transition. The days are getting shorter, The Lord is retreating into his darker self in preparation for winter. The veil between the planes is thinner as the Wild Hunt Draws nearer.

Samhain approaches.

In the modern world, we celebrate it as Halloween. We celebrate our fear with horror movies, costumes and candy. The traditions come to us from revelers celebrating the end if the agricultural year and wearing masks to scare evil spirits away so the Wild Hunt isn’t brought to your door.

We embrace our darker side with scary stories, in modern society, movies. We follow traditions and celebrate.

We have to embrace our dark side as well as our light. The two halves make a whole.

I’m not saying go out and unleash your darkest desires, I’m simply saying acknowledge that it is part of you. Some people deny that it exists. They can live, but a part of them will always be chained.

Instead of tucking it away into the dark, bring it into the light. Know that your darker side exists and realize what it means to you.

Knowing yourself will set you free.

How do you celebrate or what do you meditate on as we move into this time of reflection?

Merry met
